Mar 12, Whew...

I can't believe it's been 2 months since my last post here.

Because I have been away so long it seems I have to learn so much of the technology used in creating this website all over again. The computing world moves so fast now-a-days. I heard it said somewhere that as soon as you figure out how to do something it's become obsolete.

So I've been doing all the software upgrades and getting back into the swing of things.

I am working on the living room chair and sofa instructions.

When I first designed this chair and sofa (love seat) set I had originally planned on using a piece of cardstock rolled over two popsticks to form the arms. I decided, after much fussin' and cussin' that this technique was more work then I, or you, wanted to do - and the end results where not strong nor very uniform.

I thought back to working with the foam we used for the mattress and realized I could shape the arms and back from thinner foam and just glue the decorative trim onto the ends, after they were covered with fabric. After a couple of test pieces, I came up with the instructions I'm working on now. They should be done in the next few days. I hope you like the process.

Jan 10, Hi Everyone

I'm sure those of you who follow my site have wondered what happened that there have been no posts for over 22 months or so. Unfortunately these past months have not been good ones for the Latwaitis family.

We have lost five immediate family members - from Grandma at 85 to my nephew's five month old daughter to sids. I had prostate cancer which could not be removed but had to be treated with 45 radiation treatments. And, it looks like dialysis is eminent for my wife Arlene.

But for the Grace of God and His Love we would not be here today.

I almost did not return to creating and sharing this site with you. But, I could not ignore the thousands of you, my friends, who visited my site. You have supported me by your visits and boosted my morale that I realized I was helping others - no better way to recover from our own problems.

That being said, I will be working on The Art of Dollhouse Miniatures with renewed vigor, hopefully providing you with the plans, tips and help, along with a few freebees, so that you can reach your goals of making your own miniatures.

Again, Thanks for your patience, and generous support, Al.

May 27, An apology for the long delay for my Site Updates...

Its been almost 2 months since I've been here at the site. When you get older one begins to loose close family members more often then you'd care to deal with. We in the Latwaitis family have been unfortunate to have lost three immediate family members in as many months and this has caused many adjustments in our households.

I know you will all understand and I sincerely thank you for visiting The Art of Dollhouse Miniatures and signing up for this feed - and especially those of you who have signed up for my newsletter - which should be out by the first if June.

Thanks for your patience, Al.
