Miniature Bedroom Bed Finishing 'er Up
Ok, so now we're ready to put our three miniature bed sub-assemblies together. Find something 1/4" thick, place it on the work surface to hold the mattress frame as shown. I used a couple pieces of the 1/4" strip wood used as posts.

Test fit the miniature headboard to the notched end of the frame. The headboard should butt up to the frame and sit square. Now just a small amount of glue into each notch, slide the headboard back into place and hold it upright using the square as shown. I lay a small book or something on top of the mattress frame so it does move around as I apply pressure to the headboard as I get it into place.

Once the glue is cured on the headboard end, I repeat the process for the footboard. You'll see now why we left the long footboard trim off, as we use the square against the footboard to hold it vertical and square. Tweak the frame a little if things aren't quite square - once we place the mattress into the bed all should be held square.

Let things cure a little extra time before we place the last piece of trim on. We want to be sure the glue is well set before we handle this miniature bed too much.

Once the entire piece is complete, spray the finishing coating on the entire unit as I've described in my Finishing Miniature Furniture page located in the How To Basics pages. I've prepared a separate section on
How To Make A Miniature Bed Mattress.
