Miniature Bed Assembly Step 7...Dollhouse Miniatures How To ProjectsThe Miniature Bed Mattress FrameTo assemble the miniature bed's mattress frame I work with everything directly on the work surface. After having assembled the headboard and footboard you should have a better feel for dispensing the glue in very small amounts. If you're not confident then place a small amount of glue onto the end of a toothpick and dab a touch onto the ends of the support slats as you go along.
As you can see by my drawings I rely on the cutting mat's markings to align the parts with small gluing surfaces square. Just before you start gluing you may want to double check that all of the slats are the same length. Lay them all together, using the square to get on set of edges even. Now us my sanding block to touch up the other ends. Apply just a touch of glue to the end of the support slat and align one to each end of the sideboards. Remember!! Keep the small notch in the sideboard facing out, away from the slats ...and... in the next step have both notches at the same end of this miniature mattress bed frame. Now add the two center support slats. The drawing says "evenly spaced", but you can eyeball the spacing and you'll be plenty close enough. Besides the mattress will cover this part of the miniature bed and again - no one will ever know - lol. Miniature Bed Assembly Step 8...Add the second sideboard. You should be able to "torque" the assembly square - use the guidelines on the cutting mat to align this miniature bed mattress frame square.
Now we can move on to staining and putting the miniature bedroom bed together. Continue on to Miniature Bed Assembly Step 9
