Miniature Lawn Chair

Complete instructions on How To Make Your Own Miniatures
(Scroll Down for instructions on how to get your Free copy)

Miniature Outdoor Furniture...not much available.

When I began designing 1 inch scale miniatures, I noticed that the kits available for Do-It-Yourselfers required some skills to even get started. So my goal was to create designs that not only looked good, but were easy to build.

I also noted that there weren't many items for the outdoor portion of miniature dollhousing. So I decided to test my skills at designing and making outdoor furniture in miniature. This miniature lawn chair was my first outdoor miniatures furniture design.

As you can see, the plans and instructions are ideally suited for the beginner. A good place to start and get some experience making miniature furniture.

Miniature Lawn Chair from full size plans...

The plans are actually modified from the full sized plans I designed for my son's lawn furniture. I modifed them to make cutting and assembling of the pieces easier. Because the miniature parts are held together with glue, and I don't expect any 200 pound gorillas to be sitting on them, I was able eliminate the dovetailing, lap joints and screws used on the "real world" furniture.

miniature lawn chair stained green

Because I love the appearance of stained wood I chose to stain this Miniature Chair. Always being one to experiment I tried the green stain. The color is called Phthalo Green and is a little too bright so I toned it down a little by adding a few drops of black stain to it.
