Miniature Nightstand Assembly Step 5...
We can now begin to add the trim pieces. I stain these pieces before I assemble them which gives me good clean edges where they meet the rest of the nightstand. So inspect your trim parts and give them a light sanding as you did with the miniature nightstand sub-assembly. Wipe them clean and stain away. You will want to do a test fit just before staining just in case you have to sand the trim length a touch to get all the edges to align properly. This is where my sanding block comes in handy. Because all the trim pieces are close to the same in length, keep track of which is which during assembly. It is annoying when you get everything just so and realize that you're gluing the front trim to the side of the nightstand. It's a "Duh" moment you'd rather do without.

A small bead of glue across the back of each trim piece, align them to the bottom brace and each other and let the glue set. I set one side trim first, then align and glue the front trim in place. Next add the second side trim and make any adjustments so everything looks good. If the trim corners are not perfect, don't panic. You can still touch up the edges with an emery board. Then just wipe a little stain over that edge. But do try to get the test fits correct.
Miniature Nightstand Assembly Step 6...
When I set the top "layer" of trim, I place the side pieces on first, aligning them to the miniature nightstand's top. If they are sticking out just a little past the front edge of the top I give them a couple of passes with an emery board so the front trim will lay up against the leading edge of the top. You probably won't have to hit them with stain because they'll be covered by the front trim, but a quick, light, wipe of stain wouldn't hurt.

OK, almost done. Look your miniature bedroom nightstand over and dress any edges if necessary.
